One Tree Planted is Getting Wild with Nature this Valentine's Day

Ifyou've been following along with One Tree Planted for a while now, you probably know that we like to do things a little differently. Don't get us wrong, we LOVE all the roses, candy (fair trade of course), and pink hearts. But this year, we're channeling our wild sides and encouraging you to give the gift of wood! We're talking about gifting trees you animals! Okay, now that we have your attention, we're going to show you what we REALLY mean. And if you haven't picked up an eco-friendly gift for your sweetheart yet, we've got you covered.

Like many holidays, Valentine's Day can be pretty wasteful. And that's where we come in: not only is gifting a tree the perfect eco-friendly gift idea, it's also a super unique gift that's sure to delight any recipient. While the campaign is best suited for an adult audience, the e-cards we provide are versatile enough that you can gift a tree to anyone from your sweetheart to your grandma. There are several templates t0 choose from and you can include a custom message too. And of course, the option to plant trees all over the world in honor of your Valentine!

In addition to our awesome tree planting e-cards, a One Tree Planted campaign wouldn't be complete without engaging videos and fun educational assets. We wanted to find the balance between naughty and nice with an impactful call to action of planting a tree.

Get Wild with Naughty Nature on Social Media

If you've been following us for a little while now, Naughty Nature might sound familiar. Last year we published the blog post, Naughty Nature: 9 Ways Nature will make you Blush on Valentine's Day. And not only did we revive the post, we've also been sharing captivating mini-stories on social media. These highlight some of nature's naughtiest moments from pine cone sex to how the heck dolphins manage to "do it" in the water! We really hope this gives you a chuckle, and you might just learn something along the way, because it is all 100% ecologically accurate.

We're releasing one new naughty nature video each day until Valentine's so if you aren't following us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter be sure to head over to your favorite platform and give us a follow so you don't miss out on the fun!

So there you have it! We hope we didn't make you blush TOO much. We wish you a happy Valentine's Day filled with love, sustainability, and nature.

And don't forget to gift a tree for your honey. You can send them an e-card, or send it to yourself to print and share in person with a hug. Even if you're not a Valentine's Day kind of person, nature will definitely appreciate the love!

Gift Trees

This holiday season, gift a tree in someone's name as a heartfelt and everlasting way to show your appreciation. These trees will support a global forest fire recovery fund to protect communities and vital ecosystems! Choose an image below, write your message, choose a delivery date and gift a tree. Learn more

By gifting a tree, you will help to:

  • Reforest lands damaged by record-setting fires
  • Support healthy habitat for iconic biodiversity
  • Plant tree species that will help reduce future fire impact
  • Happy Treecember! Give the gift of trees this holiday season with an environmentally-friendly option that helps to create a healthier planet. These trees will be planted to support forest fire recovery areas around the world, including British Columbia, Idaho, Ghana, Honduras, and Portugal. Planting trees in these regions that have been severely affected by forest fires aren't able to recover a healthy ecosystem on their own, so reforestation is essential as the fires burn off available seed supply within the soil, and/or where there are not enough healthy trees still growing and producing new seeds nearby. Reforestation starts once professional assessments have been made to determine when human intervention would be the most ecologically beneficial.
  • Every year, forest fires are increasing in size and severity, damaging vital ecosystems and creating a need for millions of trees. With so much fire damage, reforestation is necessary to catalyze the environmental recovery process. The trees are carefully planted to prevent invasive species from colonizing burn scars and restore quality habitat for native biodiversity. By gifting trees this holiday season, you are contributing towards a global forest fire recovery fund that protects local communities and restores vital ecosystems.
  • Both you and the giftee will receive a personalized tree certificate (see gallery) with the recipient's name to thank you for your donation. The giftee will get a custom e-card created by you on your date of choice. We will also send you updates about this project, so you can track the impact your trees are having on the community and environment.
  • To maximize the impact of your donation, our partners on the ground will determine the most appropriate species of trees and shrubs. We only plant native tree species that will restore the local ecosystem, re-establish wildlife habitat, and reduce the likelihood of future fires.
