A non-profit organization focused on global reforestation
As an environmental charity, we're on a mission to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees!
As an environmental charity, we are dedicated to making it easier for individuals and businesses to give back to the environment, create a healthier climate, protect biodiversity and help reforestation efforts around the world. All by planting trees!
Started in 2014, we have more than doubled the number of trees planted year over year. Fast-forward to today, we now work with awesome reforestations partners in North America, South America, Asia, and Africa who help us get trees in the ground to restore forests after fires and floods, create jobs, build communities, and protect habitat for biodiversity.
In 2018, we were able to get more trees in the ground than ever before - 1.3 million!
Chief Environmental Evangelist, Founder
"When I started One Tree Planted in 2014, my goal was simple: make it easy for people to understand the importance of trees and make it even easier to get trees in the ground. I wanted to highlight the important work these planting organizations were doing, and get more businesses looking at tree planting as a way to give back."
We pool the donations for each project and send the funds to our reforestation partners. We vet our partners to ensure that we maintain a tree survival rate of 80-90%.
Depending on the project, our partners choose the best tree species to plant and work with local communities to get them in the ground. Planting typically happens in the rainy season when the soil is wet and provides optimal conditions for tree survival.
Once all the trees are in the ground we send out a report highlighting the impact of your trees. We will be sure to include plenty of pictures of the newly planted section of forest!
Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. They also provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines.
These six pillars explain why trees are so vital, and why they are so important for the environment...
