Minnesota

New

One Dollar. One Tree.

Known as “The Land of 10,000 Lakes”, Minnesota is a young landscape influenced heavily by glaciation. From extensive woodlands to tallgrass prairies, planting trees in Minnesota will help preserve these beautiful ecosystems. Learn more

With your help, we will:

  • Improve water quality by restoring watersheds
  • Promote biodiversity and improve ecosystem health
  • Increase soil stabilization and health
  • Northern Minnesota forests have simplified over the years due to land degradation and past management practices. Reforestation in Minnesota will help restore these forests and improve forest cover, increasing climate change resilience and mitigating the impact of other threats to forest integrity.
  • From extensive woodlands to tallgrass prairies, Minnesota's landscape is diverse as it is beautiful. By planting trees across the state, will we improve forest cover and safeguard these landscapes. Restored and resilient forests provide an increasing range of ecological benefits – including improved water quality and species conservation as a result of increased habitat access. The trees we plant will also help promote climate change resilience and mitigation by absorbing carbon, and shifting forest composition to more resilient, long-lived tree species.
  • A personalized tree certificate (see gallery) to say thanks for your donation. We’ll also send you reports on our Minnesota project, so you can track the impact your trees are having on the community and environment.
  • Every tree we plant will have an impact on the surrounding ecosystems and must selected with great care. We work with our planting partners to ensure the species we choose will benefit wildlife and communities.

About Minnesota

Known as “The Land of 10,000 Lakes”, Minnesota is home to some of the country's most well-known bodies of freshwater — including Lake Superior. These lakes support a range of ecosystems, supplying water to communities and wildlife alike.

Planting trees in Minnesota will help restore these vital waterscapes, ensuring surrounding ecosystems are healthy and diverse.

Why Plant in Minnesota?

Lake Superior Landscape

Improve water quality

Tree roots act as natural filters, trapping pollutants and preventing them from entering waterways. They help purify water, making it healthier for aquatic life and human consumption. This project will also help safeguard overall watershed health.

Black Bear in the Forest

Promote biodiversity

Forest ecosystems encompass richly layered habitat types, which provide shelter to a breathtaking range of biodiversity — some of which can found nowhere else on earth. Planting trees will restore critical biodiversity habitat for the species that rely on Minnesota’s forests.

Tree Planters Prepping Soil

Increase soil health

Trees help improve soil health by increasing stability and reducing the risk of flooding and erosion. With improved soil health, water sedimentation will also decrease, further enhancing the health of waterways for people and wildlife.
