Tree Species

Beginning in mid-September, deciduous trees in the northern region of North America begin to change color from green to striking shades of orange, yellow, and red through a process called photosynthesis. This occurs when the days begin to get shorter and colder, and the chlorophyll molecules in the leaves of trees begin to break down to reveal yellow and orange pigments. The color of the leaves will change and progress with the North American Fall season, meaning that trees in the north will see peak color changes around mid-October, and trees further south will see color changes around mid-November.
Reforestation in regions with fall foliage will support these forests that offer beautiful tranquility and help to preserve them for generations to come. The trees planted will improve water and air quality by filtering rainwater through their root systems, and by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and releasing oxygen for us to breathe. These trees will be a part of larger deciduous forests and will support local flora and fauna by providing habitat for a range of native wildlife species. With each tree planted, the health of our natural environment will be improved, along with our spirits as we honor the beauty of these autumn trees.
A personalized tree certificate (see gallery) to say thanks for your donation. The various regions where your trees could be planted include but are not limited to Alberta, Appalachia, and Ontario. In addition to a certificate, we'll also send you updates on our planting project, so you can track the impact your trees are having on the community and environment. Note: These trees may not be planted during the fall season, but they will grow to contribute to the spectacular fall foliage we all enjoy.
Every tree planted will impact the surrounding ecosystem, and must be selected with great care. We work with our planting partners to ensure each species we plant will only provide benefits to the surrounding ecosystem. Species vary based on each project location, but some of the native deciduous trees that will be planted include: sugar maple, yellow poplar, oak, and American chestnut. Along with complementary natives species of different varieties like jack pine, eastern hemlock, and red pine.
