Ireland

New

One Dollar. One Tree.

Ireland is famous for its lush, green fields and low central plains surrounded by iconic rocky sea cliffs. Planting trees in Ireland will provide more tree cover for wildlife and communities. Learn more

With your help, we will:

  • Create habitat and increase biodiversity
  • Impact local communities by bringing groups together
  • Encourage youth engagement through education and volunteering
  • Planting trees in Ireland will make up for the fact that Ireland has the lowest forest cover out of all European countries- Ireland having 11% while 40% of all land in the European Union is wooded. We plant many different types of tree cover and often combine different planting work with varying densities and management styles on sites with plenty of open areas. This project will provide many ecological benefits like biodiversity support, soil protection and improvement, water quality improvement and flood prevention, and air quality enhancement.ūüĆ≤
  • Our planting project in Ireland will provide a greener and more visually attractive area for the community that will encourage pride in the community and attract visitors to take part in future collaborative efforts. Some of the community benefits¬†that this project will provide¬†include but are not limited to¬†shade provision, youth education, and mental and physical health benefits.
  • A personalized tree certificate (see gallery) to say thanks for your donation. We'll also send you¬†updates on our Ireland¬†project, so you can track the impact your trees are having on the community and environment.
  • We always plant a mix of diverse, native species from local nurseries. This project is working to replenish local forests, so the native species grown in the nurseries include birch, alder, hawthorn, oak, and scots pine.

Why Plant In Ireland?

Social and Community Impact

Social and Community Impact

We work with many community groups like disadvantaged communities, schools, and religious groups, and aim to bring the communities on the journey to planting and managing their trees so that they feel a sense of ownership of the trees and understand the benefits to them and to the local environment.

Create Habitats and Increase Biodiversity

Create Habitats and Increase Biodiversity

By planting trees, we aim to support the greatest diversity of species from bugs and insects, to small mammals, amphibians, larger mammals, and birdlife. The trees provide mixtures of flowers for pollinator support and also many kinds of fruit and nuts for wildlife, acorns, hazelnuts, rowan berries, elderberries, crab apples, sloes, haw berries, etc.

Youth Engagement and Education

Youth Engagement and Education

Planting trees with local youth will teach them about the benefits of trees and how to take ownership of the area through management, weeding, pruning, etc. Through volunteer work and education, local children can get involved with others in their community while becoming passionate about the environment.
