One Tree Planted is an environmental nonprofit that is dedicated to making it simple for anyone to help the environment. Our simplified donation process and global reach has helped us build a movement of supporters who believe in the power of trees.
Our future depends on nature, it provides the essential building blocks for life—clean air, pure water, and fertile soil. Trees are at the heart of this natural system, acting as powerful tools for carbon capture, helping to stabilize our climate and mitigate the impacts of global warming. They hold the land together, preventing erosion and enriching the biodiversity that supports all life on Earth. Forests are nature’s water purifiers, safeguarding our fresh water supply while offering sustainable resources like food, timber, and medicine. Every tree we plant is an investment in the future—nurturing the planet, protecting life, and inspiring hope for generations to come.
Since 2014, we have planted over 135.5 million trees with 378 partners across 82 countries. Through this work, we’ve restored over 118,518 hectares (292,864 acres) of forest around the world, made 106 cities greener by planting urban trees for environmental justice and tree equity, and more.
We're proud to continue to scale our impact. From restoring forest habitat for thousands of threatened species, to increasing food security and improving livelihoods in communities across five global regions by planting sustainable agroforests, we have seen, again and again, the transformative power of trees.
Download 2023 reportWe can’t do this alone. We are proud to be affiliated with global initiatives that are leading the land restoration movement, including being a co-manager of Terrafund for AFR100, an implementation partner of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, a Council Member of the US Chapter of the One Trillion Trees Initiative, and an Official Delegate of the Convention on Biological Diversity. We have also fostered several important strategic alliances and partnerships, including with World Resources Institute, Global Mangrove Alliance, Jane Goodall Institute, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service.
Our work doesn’t begin and end with trees in the ground. Every project goes through several phases, including identifying a critical reforestation need, site analyses, producing and procuring seedlings, planting, and a three-year monitoring period to understand tree survival. From beginning to end, we work with our planting partners to ensure the planted trees leave a lasting positive impact on biodiversity and human wellbeing.
One Tree Planted supports reforestation in six global regions: North America, Latin America, Africa, Asia, Europe, and Oceania.
In North America, our work supports forest fire recovery, land restoration, and habitat restoration. Across Latin America & the Caribbean, our projects engage indigenous communities, combat climate change, and restore critical biodiversity habitat. In Europe, we support reforestation in historically deforested areas, ecosystem recovery after forest fires, and more. Our work across Africa helps to restore the continent’s diverse ecosystems and support local communities. In Asia, our tree-planting projects are restoring habitats for critically endangered species. And in Oceania, our work helps restore the region’s unique biodiversity.
Since 2014, we have planted trees in 82 countries around the world. Every area where we work has unique needs, but what holds true no matter where you go is the profound potential of—and need for—reforestation and land restoration. Our programs team is made up of regional experts who collaborate with local reforestation organizations who are experts on the needs of their local areas.
We partner with carefully selected reforestation organizations. Our tree planting projects work toward forest restoration, biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration, and agroforestry. They also provide community benefits such as improving health, supporting indigenous project ownership, and encouraging sustainable income generation.

Reforestation is one of the best ways to restore ecosystems that have been degraded or deforested. Plant trees to support reforestation work in the locations where it is needed most.
In the face of complex global challenges, we focus on one impactful, science-based solution: trees. Reforestation helps the environment by ensuring or accelerating the re-establishment of healthy forest structure in areas that have been degraded or deforested.
