What is Treecember?

Treecember is One Tree Planted's month-long holiday season celebration of everything that nature does for us — and everything we can do for nature. It's our way of celebrating the holidays and making them just a little greener. We take this time to honor the important things in life, like friends and family, giving to others, and appreciating nature.

Giving season is about more than presents under a tree. Some of our favorite things to do during Treecember include celebrating sustainably, exploring the great outdoors, and gifting trees to our friends and loved ones.

And this year, we are giving back by planting trees in communities that need them the most. By partnering with on-the-ground organizations and nurseries, we can celebrate giving season and support marginalized communities. All by planting trees.

With sustainable agroforestry playing an important role, these projects will change lives. Trees produce nutritious food and income for people in need. They also help restore degraded land so that farmers can gradually increase their crop yields, reduce damaging erosion and landslides, and help the soil retain more moisture so that crops can grow and thrive.

How to Gift a Tree This Holiday Season

Planting trees is as easy as visiting onetreeplanted.org and selecting “Gift Trees” from our menu bar. You’ll tell us how many to plant, and select the perfect e-card to go with it. Select your favorite photo from our curated list, write your recipient a personal message, and you’re good to go! Your recipients will even get a certificate to show the impact of their gift. When you gift a tree for the holidays, you'll know that you are making a powerful impact for people, wildlife, and the planet

1. Choose how many trees you want to plant

Select the number of trees you’d like to plant on behalf of your recipient. You can plant as many trees as you'd like, whether it's a single tree or a small forest!

2. Choose From a Selection of E-Card Designs

With various holiday and winter-themed image options, you can choose the card design that you like best.

3. Customize your card and let us know when to send it

Input your name and the recipient’s name, the recipient’s email address, and a custom message. The card will be sent to them on the day of your choosing.
