  • Biodiversity

    One Dollar. One Tree.

Biodiversity, the variety of life on Earth in all forms and interactions, thrives in healthy habitats where nature can recover after ecological disturbance. Reforestation is essential for this process. Learn more

Planting trees for biodiversity will contribute to:

    • Protecting endangered species by increasing forest cover
    • Restoring holistic ecosystems for a range of flora & fauna
    • Improving soil stability by restoring degraded areas
    • We are facing a climate crisis and the rapid loss of Earth's remaining wild places. As we lose habitats, we also lose biodiversity. This is where trees come in! Reforestation helps to restore at-risk ecosystems and habitats, ultimately increasing food supply, health, and overall well-being of amazing animals. Your donation will help to restore forest cover in Uganda, Australia, and the Pacific Northwest. Reforesting these areas will aid in the protection of endangered species, restoration of holistic ecosystems, and improvement of soil stability.
    • With the presence of a regenerating forest, we will create a safe haven for biodiversity. This brings a wide array of habitats, leading to a significant increase in species numbers. The restoration of degraded areas will also result in better soil stability, ultimately improving forest cover as a whole!
    • A personalized tree certificate (see gallery) to say thanks for your donation. We'll also send you reports on our biodiversity projects, so you can track the impact your trees are having on the community and environment.
    • In order to maximize biodiversity across our multiple projects, we will plant an array of tree species such as Terminalia arjuna, Cassis fistula, Careya arborea, Ficus racemosa, Palo de tinto (Haematoxylum campechianum), Guacimo (Guazuma ulmifolia), Palo de rosa (Tabebuia rosea), Juniperus procera, Croton megalocarpus, Prunus africana.

    Why Plant Trees for Biodiversity?

    Protect Endangered Species

    Protect Endangered Species

Reforestation creates a safe haven for biodiversity, allowing for a wide array of habitats and an increase in animals populations.

    Restore Holistic Ecosystems

    Restore Holistic Ecosystems

Increasing forest cover contributes to the restoration of holistic ecosystems, which in turn promotes a range of flora and fauna to grow.

    Improve Soil Stability

    Improve Soil Stability

Planting trees helps to rebuild the soil with nutrients, soaks up excess water, and reduces erosion thanks to strong root structures.

    Biodiversity?

    The Albertine Rift - Chimpanzee

    The Albertine Rift

    Africa

The Albertine Rift is globally recognized as a biodiversity hotspot, it ranks first among 119 distinct terrestrial eco-regions of continental Africa in terms of endemic species of birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, and second in terms of globally threatened species. Over 50% of birds, 39% of mammals, 19% of amphibians, and 14% of reptiles and plants of mainland Africa reside in this region.

    The southwest of Western Australia

    Australia

The southwest of Western Australia is an internationally recognized top 25 Biodiversity Hotspot. Many of the species in this region also hail from prehistoric times as the region has been unglaciated for more than 250 Million years! Unfortunately, this region has been over-cleared for the development of broad-acre agriculture, and now the remaining ecosystems are fragmented and in need of expansion and buffering to support their persistence and resilience into the future.

    The Pacific Northwest

    USA

The Pacific Northwest contains the United State’s largest rainforest, featuring some of the largest trees in the world. Record setting summer temperatures in 2020 and 2021 have created devastating wildfires, threatening the habitat of some of America’s most iconic biodiversity, and creating a need for jump-started recovery.
